G. Loomis Trout Spin Rods have arrived!
|
When G. Loomis came to me all excited about the new Trout Spin Series rods I was not exactly overwhelmed. Yes, they we different from the Trout and Spinning rods already in the line, but in my mind just an expansion of this line. Well, folks, I was dead wrong! We just received 6 of the 8 new models and they are ASTOUNDING! Light, sensitive beyond belief, and just plain pretty! I don’t think I have ever seen a Loomis rod as beautiful as these little jewels. Absolutely magnificent! Each comes in a G. Loomis deluxe rod sock. The two GLX models will just make you cry they’re so darn beautiful. I can’t wait to get on the water with one of these!

G. Loomis “Technical” T-Shirts in stock:
Last week was a busy week. Lots of new stock came in from G. Loomis. The entirely new 2nd Generation Microfiber T-Shirt line showed up as well. Now I have to admit I’m an old guy and really like my good old 100% cotton t-shirts. BUT, these t-shirts from Loomis are something else! 100% microfiber “wicking” material that on a really hot day actually “air condition” you body by wicking the moisture (sweat) out to the outer surface of the t-shirt. Then with any sort of breeze they create a cooling effect as the moisture evaporates from the material. Sort of like an air conditioner, only better. Our Pros swear by these shirts, especially when we are in the middle of summer with temperatures above 95 degrees (35 C) and humidity over 80%. Take a look at our web site at microfiber t-shirts for the entire selection. The Skeleton Fish is embroidered in a contrasting color on the left breast. Try them, you’ll like them!
G. Loomis Catalogs now available On-Line:
Most of you know we always include the latest G. Loomis catalog with your order. We try to send a complete set with any rod, luggage, or reel, a blank catalog with any blank, and an accessory catalog with any accessory item. But there are times when those catalogs get misplaced or, like the new items above, just aren’t completely up to date. We now have all of the G. Loomis catalogs on-line at the following web addresses:
You will have to have adobe Reader to open these. If you don’t have the latest edition just click here.
New G. Loomis 100% Cotton T-Shirts are in:
Not wanting to desert the old, die hards like myself, Loomis has introduced 3 new “earth colored” t-shirts in 100% cotton. These are really HEAVY cotton and so soft! I like them! Visit our web site at new t-shirts for the details.
Just Open – American Legacy Fishing’s EBay Store!
For a merchant such as ourselves it hard to ignore the almost one billion people who visit EBay. What started out as a web site for antiques and cast offs has rapidly become a legitimate world marketplace. Early in July we opened an EBay “store”. We hope you will visit our regular web site, but just in case you’re looking for a “one of a kind” fishing rod, trade-in rods that have been around too long, or accessories or lure that may be up for auction be advised that our store can be accessed on EBay as gloomisus.
If you have an EBay store you absolutely have to accept PayPal. We are now accepting PayPal on our web site as well as our EBay store. If you have a PayPal account you’re all set. If not we still like credit cards best and assure one and all that our web site is as secure as Fort Knox. Actually, we never really see your credit card details when you pay on our web site as the transaction goes directly to your credit card issuers database. We just collect the payment and ship your order (the same day)!

A Quick Word about the US Dollar Exchange Rate:
In the past month we keep hearing that the US economy is near the “bottom” of whatever recession we may or may not be in. Actually, in July housing starts went up 2.4%. It seems that housing is a major indicator for our economy and what the exchange rate will do in the near future. We mention this for the benefit of our overseas customers. If you are thinking about a new Loomis rod now is the time. Rates are still very favorable and shipping is still extremely reasonable. Don’t wait too long and be disappointed!
Shipping Costs and Delivery Times:
Often we are asked about delivery times from when we ship to when you will receive the item you have ordered. Here’s a quick summary of what we typically see:
USA Shipments: UPS provides 1 day ground delivery on shipments as much as 400 miles away from us here in Evansville, In. That’s not hard and fast, but a generalization. 2 days delivery goes out to about 700 miles. The east coast is usually 3 days, the west coast typically 4 days. Rural areas usually add a day to delivery times. If in doubt we suggest 3 Day Select or 2nd Day. Smaller items ship USPS 1st Class which only God knows what is typical. Expect about a week to avoid disappointment!
Non-USA Shipments: If we use UPS Expedited which we try to use for rods and larger items we have been seeing 3-5 days to Europe, 3-6 days to Australia, 4-7 days to everywhere else. USPS Priority typically takes twice as long as UPS. USPS Express (EMS) typically can be as good as UPS or sometimes a day longer.
Note that these are just guidelines, not firm delivery times. We recommend UPS whenever possible as their tracking is just about bullet-proof. USPS tracking is poor at best and usually not even close to accurate.

MEGABASS RODS and XPOD’s ARE HERE!!!
Don’t Ignore the Megabass “Critter” Lures:
Some of you are very familiar with our Megabass line. Some are not. For those who are not here’s some insight: Megabass is designed and manufactured in Japan. Yuki Ito is Megabass’ owner and chief designer. He is a genius in our mind and very “picky”. Even the moulds used to make Megabass lures are unique in that they are slightly different from on side to the other. Yuki says “lining things are not perfect, so lures that want to be as close to lining things should be slightly different from one side to the other.” Makes sense to us. Megabass lures use various super-premium hooks, many have 9 coats of paint so they change colors from one angle to another. Many contain tungsten weights inside so they have an additional dimension of motion beyond just the motion created by water flowing around the lure. But the real attraction is that they catch fish!
The “Critter” lures are a group of lures that resemble animals, insects, or fish most appropriately. Here they are:

Be sure to click on “Details” to really see and appreciate just how unique and popular these “Critter” lures are. All of these are available from our web site as well as in our EBay store.

Again my buddy Gary Schaefer, G. Loomis product manager and all-around nice guy, has come through! Never available before, here’s a spreadsheet of ALL the Loomis series rods and the brand, model, and type of guides and tip tops used on them. ROD and REEL TRADE-IN PROGRAM
Many of our customers have asked about our rod / reel trade in program. So, by popular demand, we are once again including details:
We all end up with a rod or two we no longer use, wish we had never bought, our would like to upgrade. Now you have an option to just letting those rods gather dust!
American Legacy Fishing Company’s XPRESS ROD TRADE-IN PROGRAM allows you to upgrade your old rods or reels. Here’s how it works:
Call us, e-mail us, fax us, or come in with what you want to trade-in. We will quote you a trade-in value based on your description and our appraisal. If we agree on the trade-in value, then just place your order for your replacement or upgrade rod(s). We’ll take your credit card details and shipping info, immediately send your new rod(s) out in a sturdy, reusable shipping tube along with a pre-paid UPS return label. When your new rod(s) arrive simply put the trade-in rod(s) in the tube, reseal, take off the old UPS label and put the prepaid label on the tube and drop off at a UPS pick-up point. Reels must be shipped separately from rods and we will include a shipping label for them as well if applicable. Once we receive and inspect the rods / reels we will issue your credit card a credit for the trade-in value agreed less the return prepaid shipping fee.
G. Loomis rods typically appraise at 30% to 45% of current MSRP. Other brands may be somewhat less. Reels range in value from 20% to 45% of current MSRP. All values are highly dependent on condition and brand.
If our inspection determines the rods / reels are below the condition that was described to us, we will contact you with our inspection report and a revised trade-in appraisal. We always try to minimize this sort of situation by asking customers to be as fair as possible when describing rods / reels to be traded.
RODS / REELS NOT ACCEPTABLE: We cannot accept rods made in China, Korea, Thailand, etc. by manufacturers other than St. Croix, Shimano, Daiwa, etc. We cannot accept any rod that has damage or wear that would substantially affect the rods performance. We cannot accept rods deemed “vintage” where collector value is greater than functional value. We reserve the right to confirm ownership and to refuse any rod or reel.
It’s that simple. And, that fast! Questions? Comments? Give us a call, e-mail us, fax us, or come by.

SEND US YOUR FISHING PICTURES
Everyone did GREAT e-mailing pictures after our last sale bulletin and we have some great pictures in this newsletter. We try to include as many as we can in every newsletter. KEEP THOSE PICTURE COMING!
Please e-mail us those great shots (doesn’t have to be a trophy) at sales@gloomis.us and we promise to get them in our newsletters. If they happen to include a G. Loomis or Megabass or Airflo hat, t-shirt, or product even better. We’ll pass those on to the manufacturer.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
We have been told that July, August, and September are “slow” months in this business. Hmmmmm. We don’t think so. Thanks to your support July and August have been great months. And, we have seen G. Loomis deliveries improve, had a cool August (by southern Indiana standards, a had more store traffic than we have ever had. These “good things” happen only because of YOUR continued support. Without you, our customers, we would not be here. Thank you for your continued support, trust, and friendship.
We truly THANK each and every friend and customer who has given us the chance to serve their needs. Without your on-going support and loyalty we would not be here. From Paul, Adam, Nikki, Tom, and Dixie we say a very sincere and heartfelt “THANK YOU”. May you always have a “tight line”.
