Dear Mr. Ashby and American Legacy Fishing Company,
I would like to give you a little personal customer feedback from a very appreciative client.
I first purchased my main fishing rod (NRX LP 9’ 5wt) several years ago and was thrilled with its performance. A few months ago I took a trip of a lifetime to New Zealand and was able to land a terrific brown trout with the rod on the first day. To place the fly where it needed to be required an accurate low cast with a tight loop as the trout was feeding under a tree with low branches that spanned 30 feet and covered about 15 feet from the shore. I had 1 cast and 1 opening to get it right and I did!! The fly hit the water, the 24” trout immediately moved and I had hooked a fish of a lifetime! I really do not think I could have done it without this wonderful rod.
The following day I was walking a bank of a very large river and fell down 10 feet into the water which was deep and over my head in a second. Unfortunately the last 3 sections of the rod detached and I never saw them again. Distraught, I called my friends and they picked me up. I was most upset because I had lost my favorite rod while I still had 5 more days in NZ.
When I got back to the States I looked online to purchase another LP- but decided to contact G Loomis to see if they could sell me the 3 sections I was missing. I was told that I couldn’t but to talk with someone at the Xpediter program. Whoever I spoke with was so nice and I just could not believe you would replace my rod even though I only had the butt section for $100.
I received the new rod in the mail and vowed that I would try to purchase my future fly rods only from your company. I sense from your company response emails that this is a reflection on you and your customer first leadership and high moral standard.
I purchased a 9’ 8wt Asquith last week which is currently being delivered. I look forward to using it on my trip to Long Island Bahamas in a couple weeks and as my main bonefish rod.
