This Issue: Our $10 Apology, BIG Shimano Waxwings, G. Loomis Rod Count, Red Cross Auction Report, and Lots More……….

Our LEW’S Reel Pricing Goof and YOUR $10 Reward……………

Well, sometimes you eat he bear and sometimes the bear eats you. We’ve been bear food for the last two weeks.

Seems we priced the New LEW’S Reels wrong. Simply put, too high. So, we figured this out (better late than never) and now have these wonderful reels priced where they should have been all along. The LEW’S Tournament Speed Spool Reel is now $139.99 ($10 less than our original price), the LEW’S Tournament Pro Speed Spool Reel is now $179.99 ($20 less than our original price) and the LEW’S Team LEW’S Speed Spool Reel is now $249.99 ($20 less than our original price).

To show you how sorry we are for this goof we’re offering a $10 American Legacy Gift Card with every LEW’S Reel bought between now and May 8th. If you bought one of these reels at the higher price just drop us a note at [email protected] and we’ll send you a gift card out immediately. Each Reel you buy (or bought) will receive a $10 Gift Card along with our sincere apologies!

Folks, these are some nice reels and match up great with that fish-catching rod you have. Give them a try. We can assure you that you WILL be impressed.

How Many Rods Does G. Loomis really Make?……………

We’re betting you don’t know. But we do. But first let’s put this in perspective.

There are probably less than 15 fishing rod manufacturers who’s blanks are USA made and who’s rod assembly is actually done here in the USA. Some have a plant here as well as buy rods from Mexico or overseas locations such as China, Korea, Thailand, etc. Of these 15 or so manufacturers most have less than 100 models. And, of these 100 or so models many are duplicates with only the blank and rod components being different. Action, power, lure weight range, and line weight range are the same across as many a 4 different models; only the rod blank and components are different.

There are one or two manufacturers who make more than 100 models and do so here in the USA, but simply put they aren’t even close to G. Loomis in the number of unique rod models offered. G. Loomis offers twice as many unique rod models as ANY rod manufacturer. That means that there are far more G. Loomis unique rod models currently available in casting, spinning, big game, and fly than from any other source (this even would include most overseas sources). And, this number is growing every year. We suspect we will eventually see an increase of 20% to 30% more unique models within the next few years if the current developmental trend at Loomis continues.

So what’s the point? Well, we figure that if G. Loomis understands fishing and fishermen so well that they offer so many different and unique rod models why would you ever consider any other brand that doesn’t? At best, these would be compromises that try to fit different needs into a single model rod. Now we’re not “bad mouthing” the competition here. There are actually a lot of really good rods out there. But, we selected G. Loomis because it was THE BEST. No compromise. No excuses. No “One Size Fits All” thinking. We figured that was important, especially in a world that is more prone to compromise than stand up for what is right. G. Loomis rods are right.

You can get into a G. Loomis rod for a little less than $200 or you can spend almost $1,000 if you like. Better yet, we have a great trade-in program and are always offering used G. Loomis rods at a heck of a savings over the new price. So, as the current credit card TV ads say, “What’s your excuse? What are you waiting for?”

If you’re not using G. Loomis rods yet do yourself a favor and try one. You will be amazed and definitely “like what you feel.” Oh, right now G. Loomis makes 619 unique rods in casting, spinning, big game, and fly models. Watch for that number to go up.

Finally, a Shimano WAXWING Jig for B-I-G Fish…………………….

Shimano has just released the fourth Waxwing Jig model designated as “The Senior” which is the largest and heaviest of this series of “killer” jigs. Those of you who go after those monster trophies OR just want a kick-ass big jig to get a fish’s attention this is for you. We can’t wait to throw these after all sorts of different fish, both saltwater and freshwater. I can see it now – some big hawg inhaling one of these!

This newShimano “Senior” Waxwing Jig is about 5 ½” long (138 mm) and weighs 2 oz (58 grams) which means these “Seniors” are bigger than the other three Waxwing models – Baby is 2.67″ long and ½ oz, Boy is 3 ½” long and 7/8 oz, and Junior is 4 ½” long and 1 ½ oz. So as you can see these new Seniors are the largest yet. We can only imagine how far you could throw one of these using one of the new G. Loomis IMX Surf Rods!

Now if you don’t have some of theseShimano Waxwing Jigs (in whatever size) in your tackle box or bag you’re simply missing out. Doesn’t matter if you fish saltwater, freshwater, or both. These are fantastic and have some of the greatest fish-catching action we have ever seen. Doesn’t matter what species, fish go for these bad boys. And you can work them as many ways as your imagination can come up with.

The New Senior Waxwing Jigs come in the same 14 astonishing colors as their smaller breather. And as we have said many times, the finish on theses jigs is just fantastic. And the hooks? About as sharp as we have ever seen. We now have every model and every color of the Shimano Waxwing Jigs In Stock. We’re betting these Seniors will be hot, so the sooner you order the better off you’ll be.

FREE Boga Grip (?) – Steve’s story………………………

So here’s what happened. By buddy Steve goes fishing early this spring in what could best be described as a “roadside pond” having been created by a new 4 lane highway. It’s one of those places we all pass almost every day and never give a second thought to. Fish there? Never crossed my mind.

Now Steve being Steve decides there possibly may be a nice largemouth or two in this urban oasis and decides to give it a try one afternoon. Almost on cue the fish start hitting and in no time Steve has caught some 2 lb to 3 lb fish. And some smaller. 10 inches, 11 inches, etc. So here’s Steve lipping a smaller fish so he can remove a small shad-rap treble hook from the fish’s mouth when the fish gives a shake, a twist, and voila, Steve has two of the shad-rap’s front treble hook barbs firmly imbedded in his thumb!

Having no one to help close by and in what could best be described as serious pain, Steve drives himself to the local hospital emergency room where a very kind and understanding physician gently cuts the barbs out of his thumb.

Shad-rap: $5.99

Gas to and from Emergency Room: $12.00

Emergency Room Rent with Physician: $129.00

Lesson learned: Priceless.

The POINT here is all of this could have been prevented by using a Boga Grip! You grab the fish with the Boga and then (if you’re smart) use a pair of needle nose pliers to work the hook(s) out. I know many of us including yours truly may not always operate this way, but we should. “An ounce of prevention is worth a Pound of cure” I was always told.

This story is a good example of that. Steve was out at least $145.00 AND lost plenty of valuable fishing time. Luckily he was close to home and the E-room wasn’t far away. That’s not always the case. For what Steve paid for medical treatment he could have HAD a nice, new Boga Grip as well as a properly functioning thumb. This is an indispensible tool that is 100% Made in the USA. Everyone needs one of these. Heck, considering what an emergency room vist would cost it’s like getting a Boga Grip FREE. Nuff said.

Power Pro and Tuf-Line – We have EVERY test, color, and spool size IN STOCK…………

Hey, it’s Spring and time to get on the water! It’s also time to put some new line on those reels and a great opportunity to try some braided lines if you haven’t already. Power Pro Braided Micro Lines now come in 4 and 5 lb test are a real “hoot” for all of you ultra-light spin fishermen. We also stock the new Tuf-Line braid as well as the industry standard Power Pro Spectra Braid.

Remember, we carry EVERY color, test, and spool size of both Power Pro and Tuf-Line IN STOCK. As far as we know we are the Only Dealer in the World to offer you every possible combo of color, test, and spool size. Keep this in mind when you’re ready to re-line. It will certainly help you avoid the frustration of going to many web sites or retailers looking for everything you need, paying several different shipping charges in order to get every line you’re after. And our prices are very competitive! Plus, we ship the SAME DAY and offer Free USA Shipping with any order of $200 or more.

WATCH Our New Products VIDEO………..

Sometimes you really need to see something in person to appreciate it. And if you’re close to our fair city of Evansville, Indiana that should be a pretty easy (and pleasant) task. Just come by for a look and cup of coffee. If you’re not, we have a Great Video we just did where you can see LOTS of our Newest Products. Plus, you’ll get to see Brian Dolne up close and personal as he thoroughly explains these great items.

Here’s the link to our very first New Product Video:  We’re sure you will enjoy this and very likely find some new products that will allow you to Catch More Fish!

Be Sure to Take a LOOK at our Trade-In Rods and Reels………

Lemme see…we offer 10% to 20% higher trade-in values for used premium rods and reels over the last 30 days. That would mean that we have, lots of fantastic, almost new rods and reels that have been traded in. Better yet, our selling prices are usually very, very attractive. Even better yet, every rod and reel has a 30 day warranty plus whatever manufacturer’s warranty is still left.

Need some more rods or reels? Look at our trade-ins. Want to get your son or daughter into fishing? Look at our trade-ins. Looking for that no-longer-made rod or reel? Look at our trade-ins. Want to piss your wife off by bring home a bunch more rods and reels but don’t want to spend a lot of money? Look at our trade-ins!
