This Issue: New Shimano Rods, Fish Catchin’ Jigs, 40% Off VIP Rods, Trades, Reasons to Fish,  Lots More…….

  Nicel Salmon!

Martin Bouchard shows his fishing expertise with this great land locked salmon from the Caniapiscau River north of Quebec, Canada. Martin’s guide is on the left and Martin’s rod and reel is far right on the rock. Given this was such light tackle in such swift water we say “good job” to both!

FANTASTIC Shimano Crucial Rods Now In Stock………………..

Epiphany: a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.

Well, we just had one a couple of weeks ago. It had to do with using what we thought was a middle-of-the-line Shimano rod that had been traded in. The rod was a Shimano Crucial Series Rod. Not sure of the specs, etc. but it was in “like new” condition and had been traded in on a new G. Loomis NRX. That said something to us right there. Once we used the rod we were, simply put, amazed. The rod was light, responsive, had great components, and the retail price was amazingly fair given the quality and performance!

Why didn’t we carry this series of rod? Had we been asleep? Were we just not paying attention? Damn, we really screwed up!

Now the best way we know to fix a screw-up is to jump all over it and fix it. Now. So that’s what we’re doing. All 53 Models of Shimano Crucial Rods, both casting and spinning, are now In Stock.

The Shimano Crucial is a serious Top-of-the-Line rod and sits just below the exotic Cumulus ($350-400) and the Cumara ($200-$250) but is priced at between $140 and $180. Basically about 25% to 30% less than the Cumara’s. But, and this is a BIG BUT, these rods are fantastic quality and how we missed adding this to our product offerings is just a big “DUH.” I mean, look at this rod’s features:

Every Crucial has a LIFETIME WARRANTY. Yep, every Crucial rod has Shimano’s “over-the-counter” limited lifetime warranty. If the rod fails, any Shimano dealer will gladly give you a new rod “over the counter” so you can get back on the water – fast! The Crucial blanks are Shimano’s super premium TC4 construction IM-9 graphite. They’re light, sensitive, and oh so responsive. Crucial’s have premium black Fuji Concept Alconite guides (Gudebrod thread wrapped) and tip tops, premium cork handles in both classic and split grip configurations, a premium Fuji reel seat with most casting rods having the exposed blank seat, and many other features you just won’t find on a rod in this price range. As we said, a heck of a rod – and so good lookin’ in black!

HERE’S THE DEAL: We now have all 53 models of Shimano Crucial rods In Stock. We want You to try these rods so we’re offering a FREE Shimano cap in either Red, Navy, or Stone with EVERY Crucial rod you buy. Just specify what color(s) you want in the notes section of the checkout process if ordering on-line. This is a $20 hat and it’s yours free. Buy $200 or more and USA shipping is FREE as well. So – buy a couple of Shimano Crucial rods for somewhere around $150 each, get a $20 hat free with each, plus free shipping which is worth about $20. Hmmmm….you’re saving about $60 (2 hats plus shipping) when you buy 2 rods (around $300 total). That’s 20% savings. Not bad. Not bad at all considering how G-O-O-D these rods are.

Ignorant: lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned, uninformed; unaware.

No sir. Not anymore. Now we’ve not got these great rods IN STOCK! Folks, give one or more of these wonderful rods a try. You’ll be glad you did. And that Free Shimano hat will look good on you as well!

Jewell

Hey, this is a “Jewel” Of A Bait and They’re Now In Stock………………

Adam Daywalt and Brian Dolne have been lobbying for including Jewell Jigs in our lineup and after seeing the success they have had using these jigs how could we say no? These Jewel jigs (say that fast 5 times) are Made In The USA and are the Best Quality we have ever run across. The paint and skirts are fantastic. The innovative designs are something that knowledgeable fisherman will really appreciate. They DO make a big difference.

The Jewel football jigs have bottom dimples that make the jig head stand up, even when pulled through sediment. No side tipping here. And that dimple  causes some “hydrodynamic action” (how you like that big word?) that means they get the fish’s attention and create some disturbance that, as best we can tell, pretty much pisses off the fish. And we all know how pissed off fish react. They bite!

The Jewel Eakins jig is what started the whole finesse fishing craze and, being the first kid with the ball, produces better than most similar jigs we have tried. The head extends down part of the hook shaft and really gives this model some nice balance when fishing windy or rough conditions.

One of our favorites is the Jewel J-Lock Jig which has a unique trailer keeper on the hook shank. This model also has a ridged body and a unique zigzag strand skirt that (here we go again) creates great hydrodynamic action with vibrations that really get a fish’s attention.

Every Jewel Jig is so well done. The paint is the best we’ve ever seen. All jigs have premium Mustad Hooks, premium quality skirts, finishes Rolls-Royce would be envious of, and come in a great assortment of colors and weights. We have almost every color and weight now in stock and really encourage you to put some of these serious fish catchers in your tackle box. We promise you that Jewel Jigs will be one of the best investments you’ll make this Spring, especially if you’re really serious about catching BIG fish!

Shimano Reels: A Cut Above by Brian Dolne

In today’s very competitive reel market, there are several companies that put out a quality product for us, the consumer.  The average angler could buy any decent reel and probably be fairly satisfied with their decision.  That being said, one brand stands alone at the top, delivering the highest quality reels in the industry.

Shimano has been manufacturing reels for a long time.  This is a company that goes the extra mile to make sure that every detail has been accounted for and that every feature possible has been included.  Shimano reels use only the highest quality components and go through an extensive set of tests before being released to the public.  Each reel is created by a team of design, material, and quality control engineers that ensure a refined and durable product is released.  Shimano does not source any of their reels and has an in house service center, as well as several other certified service centers across the United States.

The durability of a Shimano reel is truly incredible.  Every reel they make seems to be bullet proof. Another quality that sets Shimano apart is their consistency.  Each reel feels the same out of the box and will feel virtually the same every time you make a cast.  Other brands tend to be erratic in their performance, back lashing for seemingly no reason.

As the leader in the industry, Shimano offers a reel for every fisherman.  Their line includes a wide variety of price points for spinning, casting, and conventional reels.  With a little research, a fisherman can certainly find a Shimano reel that fits their style and budget.  So, next time you are looking to purchase a reel, experience the feel of a Shimano and you won’t be disappointed.

Tight Lines,
Brian Dolne

Product Reviews Are Now On-Line……………….

OK, we may not be the first company to offer product reviews, but we’re betting ours will be the best if you’re willing to lend a hand. You can now review any product we carry and that review will be shared with your fellow anglers on our web site. Shoot, it doesn’t even matter if you bought it from us or not. You can still review a product and let everyone know how you did or did not like it.

And it’s so simple and quick! Just go to any product on our web site you have used. Right under the top “headline” description (the one in bold black) you’ll see a little blue line that says “Be the first to review this product”. Put you pointer over that line and click on it and the product review page will come up. Here you’ll be able to give an overall 1 to 5 star rating (5 being the best) along with any pros or cons. At the bottom you can write a product review telling everyone about how you like or dislike that product. Then just hit the “submit review” button and your done. Easy, simple, and we assure you very much appreciated.

Please help us by submitting product reviews so all of us can benefit from your experience and knowledge.

Holiday Schedules for Memorial Day and 4th of July………………

“Gone Fishing”. Yep, we will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday May 30, 2011 as well as the 4th of July, Monday, July 4, 2011. We WILL BE OPEN both weekends preceding these holidays, so if you’re in the area please stop by and say “hello”. We are always eager to meet every customer we possibly can.

Be Sure to Take a LOOK at our Trade-In Rods and Reels………

Lemme see…we offer 10% to 20% higher trade-in values for used premium rods and reels over the last 30 days. That would mean that we have, lots of fantastic, almost new rods and reels that have been traded in. Better yet, our selling prices are usually very, very attractive. Even better yet, every rod and reel has a 30 day warranty plus whatever manufacturer’s warranty is still left.

Need some more rods or reels? Look at our trade-ins. Want to get your son or daughter into fishing? Look at our trade-ins. Looking for that no-longer-made rod or reel? Look at our trade-ins. Want to piss your wife off by bring home a bunch more rods and reels but don’t want to spend a lot of money? Look at our trade-ins!
