Auction #1: RARE G. Loomis “Millennium” GLX 2000 Rod to Help Japan………….
Here’s the deal: We are auctioning off a G. Loomis LIMITED EDITION GLX 2000 Millennium Casting Rod on Ebay with ALL PROCEEDS ~ 100% going to the Red Cross for Japan Relief. If you EVER wanted to own one of the rarest-of-the-rare rods now’s your chance! This will be a 10 day auction and the lucky winner will receive the rod immediately upon receipt of payment ( or as soon as FedEx can deliver it ~ fully insured) from our Evansville, Indiana location.
Folks, let me tell you about this RARE rod. In 2000 G. Loomis decided to issue 200 pieces of a GLX Millennium Rod to commemorate the new Century. This was a great idea, but several things happened that made obtaining one of these rods virtually impossible. First, they didn’t quite hit the intended release date. Actually, they came out only at the end of the year 2000, so they really were available in 2001 rather than 2000. Second, they all went to G. Loomis reps rather than dealers. This meant that only “insiders” got their hands on these rods and very, very few actually made it to customers collections. Third, we’re not really sure Loomis actually made 200 pcs. We think it was far less, but we have no real proof either way. Finally, they were priced at about Double what the typical GLX rods were at the time. All reasons why you probably never saw any of these and certainly don’t have one.
Over the years we actually ended up with one of these remarkable rods. It’s been a prize that has been coveted in my office ever since we got our hands on it about 3 years ago. Lemme’ tell you about this fantastic rod:
It is a color similar to the BronzeBack, but with a slightly lighter, more metallic finish. The reel seat is a custom machined nickel-plate on a G. Loomis graphite carrier. The cork is the best available at the time and has minimal fill. The butt end of the handle is custom made nickel plated and has the rod serial number (in this case 49 of 200) on the end. The rod guides are what we think are custom Fuji SiC with GOLD plated inserts! The rod has a hook keeper just above the foregrip, which has another custom turned piece for the end cap.
This rod is marked “GLX 2000 Mag Bass Series by G. Loomis” and also says “49 of 200″ on the blank. There are no other markings as far as lure or line weight, power or action. The rod is 6’6” long and feels like a medium power, fast action rod to us. We would guess it is a MBR783 GLX blank. The rod comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and includes a custom full length G. Loomis velvet-like maroon rod sock with “GLX2000 and the block G. Loomis logo embroidered on it in gold (think Megabass custom sock). All-in-all this is simply a BEAUTIFUL rod and one any collector would be proud to have.
So here’s what we are doing. The rod is currently listed on Ebay Item number is 270729171351 . You can go to Ebay, sign in, and put this item number in the search box. This will take you to this item. We hope you will consider bidding on this wonderful rod as 100% OF THE PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE RED CROSS for JAPAN EARTHQUAKE/TSUNAMI RELIEF.
All of you know how devastated Japan was/is from these terrible disasters. What better way to help and (hopefully) score one of the rarest fishing rods ever made in the bargain. Please bid. It’s definitely for a worthwhile cause.
Auction #2: One-of-a-Kind Shimano Calcutta “Stogie” Custom Finished Reel to Help Japan……………..
Wow! I mean WOW! We asked our friends at Shimano North American to consider a donation to be auctioned off for the Red Cross Japan Relief Fund never thinking this gorgeous, One-of-a-Kind reel would show up! Simply put, this is about the Most Beautiful Reel we have ever seen!
The reel is a Shimano Calcutta 250 Right Hand with a Custom one-of-a-kind anodized finish that, in our opinion, resembles a cigar leaf. Each of these reels was painstakingly finished and assembled by hand in the USA! Because of these custom finishes, no two stogies are exactly alike. Unlike a “normal” Calcutta 250, these reel have 5 ABEC bearings, a custom “Cigar” Wooden case, and all of the spare parts, papers, and goodies you would normally expect.
Now folks, this is truly a Collector’s Piece and one you will probably never see again. These were made about 10-12 years ago and you just don’t find them anywhere other than discussion topics on most of the collector blogs. Best of all, you will be making a donation of 100% of your bid to the Red Cross Japan Relief Fund.
Please bid on this reel and Be Sue To Tell All Of You Friends! Please! We’ll probably never see one of these again, especially a NEW reel with the Custom Box, Papers, Parts, etc. Don’t miss out on this fantastic reel! The Ebay item number is 280653188402. Just enter this number in the Ebay search box and bid away! Please!
Auction #3: New In Box Shimano Scorpion Metanium Mg SVS Reel………………..
OK, this reel is V-E-R-Y special since it was “stolen” out of the office of the President of Shimano North America’s private collection. Yes, he knew it went away. He’s a great guy and sort of turned away as our stealth “grabber” slipped in and out with this marvelous reel. It’s ours now and can be yours in about 10 days as this is our third Special Item up for auction to benefit the Red Cross Japan Relief Fund.
This is another RARE reel and is brand new in the box with all the appropriate papers, parts, etc. This reel is a 6.2:1 ratio, Right Hand Retrieve, 12 lb/140 yd capacity, 7.1 oz weight, 6 bearings, Magnesium Frame & Sideplates, Titanium Coated “Rainbow” Whiffle Spool, and simply one beautiful reel. It’s very doubtful that you will ever find one of these new as this reel was introduced about 6 or 7 years ago.
Functionally Tackle Tour praised this reel as “perhaps the perfect middle high end casting reel.” Of course, that would be assuming you will actually USE this beauty. Hmmm, don’t think I could do that. But, I’m sure I would bid on this since 100% of the proceeds go to the Red Cross Japan Relief Fund.
So, once again, please place a bid and PLEASE tell your friends about this auction (just forward this newsletter to them). I doubt you’ll ever see another one of these for sale new in box. I’m absolutely SURE you’ll never see another one that was “lifted” from the office of the President of Shimano North America’s private collection! The Ebay item number is 270729168256 and again, just type this auction number in the search box and you’ll be able to place a bid (as soon as you sign in) and, if you win, provide some very needed help for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief. Please bid!
New LEW’S Speed Spool Reels…………
Very rarely do we consider taking on a new line of Casting Reels. I mean, we DO have Shimano and Daiwa. Why would we need another brand? Especially one that was trying to capitalize on an old well recognized name that went away a long time ago. The original LEW’S Speed Spool Reels were legends and know as “bulletproof”. Well made in Japan and simple in design, they held up under any fishing conditions. So our expectations were that this latest reincarnation would be just another “ho-hum” mediocre baitcasting reel using an old name in order to sell to nostalgic suckers. Well, we were Wrong. The New LEW’S Low Profile Casting Reels truly are Super high end with great quality, and have a very reasonable price.
After looking the line over we discovered these reels actually fill a void for us (and quite possible for you) in high end casting reels. What is that void, you ask? First, they’re really a smaller reel with big, big guts. Alongside a Shimano Curado 50 or CORE 50 they look petite. Compared to the Daiwa Zillions they’re slightly smaller yet equal or higher quality and performance at a lower price. They have LOTS of double shielded premium stainless steel bearings (10 or 11 depending on the model) and sell for an amazing $149.99, $199.99 and $279.99 (which represent top three series of reels we are stocking). What we REALLY LIKE about these LEW’S reels is they are made to last and be tournament fished – every week. No “throw-away” reels here! These reels just keep going and going and going……Here are the details:
Our “entry level” reel is actually one step above the basic LEW’S reel offered by the manufacturer. LEW’S Tournament Speed Spool Low Profile Baitcasting Reels are 8.3 oz, 5.4:1, 6.4:1, or 7.1:1 ratio, come in right hand or left hand retrieve, have a line capacity of 120 yds of 12 lb mono, 10 double shielded premium stainless steel bearings, 14 lb maximum drag pressure using an advanced carbon composite drag, external-adjust Multi-Setting Brake (MSB) dual magnetic/centrifugal cast control, top quality machined spool, solid brass gears, graphite side plates, titanium zirconia line guide, and ergonomic bowed handle with custom grips. Price is $149.99 Simply put it would be hard to come up with a reel of this quality for a better price.
The next step “UP” are the LEW’S Tournament Pro Speed Spool Low Profile Baitcasting Reels which are an amazing 6.7 oz total weight, have gear ratios of 6.4:1 or 7.1:1, come in right hand or left hand retrieve, have a line capacity of 120 yds of 12 lb mono, 11 double shielded premium stainless steel bearings, 14 lb maximum drag pressure using an advanced carbon composite drag, external-adjust Multi-Setting Brake (MSB) dual magnetic/centrifugal cast control, aircraft-grade machine forged Duralumin drilled and anodized spool and gear system, big forged gears, graphite side plates, titanium zirconia line guide, and ergonomic bowed handle with custom grips. Price is an amazing $199.99
Top-of-the-Line is the LEW’S Team Lew’s Speed Spool Low Profile Baitcasting Reel which is 7.1 oz total weight, has a gear ratio of 7.1:1, right hand retrieve, line capacity of 120 yds of 12 lb mono, 11 double shielded premium stainless steel bearings, 14 lb maximum drag pressure using an advanced carbon composite drag, external-adjust Multi-Setting Brake (MSB) dual magnetic/centrifugal cast control, Aircraft-grade Duralumin drilled spool, drive gear, crankshaft and worm shaft, big forged gears, graphite side plates, titanium zirconia line guide, and ergonomic bowed carbon fiber handle with custom grips. At $279.99 this is one serious reel deal!
Right now every reel made in these three series is in stock (8 models) and can ship immediately. We just know you will fall in love with these LEW’S reels. They would match up fantastically with a G. Loomis GLX or NRX rod and truly create an amazing combo. Remember, we take pride in only offering you the best gear. These new LEW’S reels belong here at American Legacy Fishing just as they do on your rods!
