On first impression, it doesn’t seem to make sense to take a perfectly good lure, with a quality factory paint scheme, and send it to a custom painter for an overhaul and custom paint job.
On one extreme is a lure that costs five bucks. Add a $10 or $20 paint job and you’ve increased your investment by a healthy multiplier. On the other hand, it seems a pity to take a $30 Japanese jerkbait with a hyper-realistic shine and throw that finish away in favor of an altogether different pattern.
