NEW 2010 G Loomis Frog Rods
Our goal has always been to make very accurate, technique specific walleye rods. Now, thanks to the input received from the tournament anglers, guides and G.Loomis Fish Team members like Dan Plautz, we’ve made them even better. Sporting a new look and new actions, these rods are Over the years, some of the techniques have changed, fisheries have changed and anglers have adjusted, so we have totally redesigned our entire selection of walleye rods, improving the actions with even more precise tapers and length adjustments to cover the most technical aspects of the fishery, especially where light weight and sensitivity are an important factor for success. There are eight models in our proprietary “blended fibers” with Fuji Alconite guides and eight of the same models in GLX with Recoil guides. Rods specifically designed for pitching jigs, vertical jigging, bait rigs and back-bouncing. When lightweight and sensitivity really makes a difference, we recommend GLX!! You’ll discover a world of difference.
ALL NEW G Loomis Pro Green
We selected our two most popular spinning models from the standard Escape travel rod line-up and created two new 7′ GLX versions. They are unbelievably light and so sensitive you just can’t believe it. Any serious angler that travels a lot should have one of these rods. Fly fishers will really appreciate these rods when the wind threatens to ruin a very expensive day on the flats. They can truly save your trip! They have nice, fast tapers for casting range and accuracy, plus they feature the super durable RECOIL spinning guides so you don’t have to worry about bending a guide or losing an insert. They are three-piece rods and come in a durable, Cordura-covered hard case. You’ll forget these are three-piece rods once you put them together with the special GL “tip-over-butt” ferrule system.
We used our “blend” fiber technology and moderately priced components to create a new range of two-hand salmon and steelhead fly rods – so named because of their “versatility”. They have dual line-ratings – in both stnadard fly line sizes and grain-weights to help achieve the right balance. Balancing the rod with the right line allows them to perfomr all the dominant casting methods with exceptional comfort and control. The rods range in length from 12-1/2′ to 13-1/2′ and are well suited for short, compact length shooting heads and are long enough for full fly lines. They more than exceed our expectations… they are fantastic!

Why “Rite In the Rain“? Because you can…..
Documentation of these variables can take your fishing to the next level, but writing data with conventional pen and paper can be regrettable when they are exposed to water. The ink bleeds, paper tears, pen will not write properly-all things which lead to the loss of information you worked hard to identify. The solution to this problem is found in the innovative ‘WEATHER PROOF” Rite in the Rain line of products.
With Rite in the Rain, we are offering several products made in the USA: an All Weather Pen, a line of notebooks for all-purpose, flats and fly fishing, as well as a kit including the pen, all-weather notebook, and a durable, belt looped carrying case-all of which prevent loss of data by repelling water from rain, spray, or even complete submersion in water. Rite in the Rain uses a patented, high strength, moisture wicking paper that will not allow water or weather to be a factor in documenting and saving your information.
The advantage of the notebooks is not only in the water repellant properties of the paper, but in the features of the notebooks as well. Each 4×6 inch notebook is spiral bound with front and back protective covers, which provide a 5 inch and 13 centimeter ruler. The 50 pages inside the All-Weather Fishing Journal offer a template to document a ton of information: date, body of water, state, license/stamp type, boat type, GPS access points, special restrictions/rules, number in fishing party, time on and off the water, cloud cover percentage, precipitation information, barometric pressure including trend of pressure, wind direction/speed, moon phase, water level, air/water temperature, cold front information, water clarity, equipment used, as well as tables for GPS and species fishing reports. The back side of every page is lined and can be used for additional notes. The Flats Journal an Fly Fishing Journal provide a template for much of the same information, but also allow for documenting variables such as hatch activity and tidal trends. The all-weather pen offers additional insurance, having the ability to write on wet paper, in extreme temperatures, at any angle, and is 5.25 inches long with a black metal barrel. The Rite in the Rain Kit is the complete package-offering the versatile all-weather notebook, pen, and the Codura Pouch. The pouch perfectly fits the 4×6 notebooks, pen, and additional tools, which, can be anchored by internal elastic straps. The Codura Pouch uses and adjustable buckle closure and belt loops for easy access.
Knowing the subtleties of individual fishing situations is a huge advantage to anglers. Rite in the Rain allows water proof documentation and access to strategies which dependably correlate to specific conditions and situations. This is a huge asset in a sport which success depends so heavily on applying the correct strategies at the correct time.

The New Shimano Baitrunner Spinning reels are here and in stock as well. Sizes are 4000D, 6000D, 8000D, and 12000D. The Baitrunner was long overdue for an upgrade, and boy did Shimano do a heck of a job on these new reels. Yes, they cost more, but there simply is no comparison with the older Baitrunner “B” series. Propulsion spool, better bearings, better drag, better grip, more settings, and Shimano reliability.
Daiwa Saltist Spinning reels have just arrived. Sizes are 4000H, 4500H, 5000H, 6000H, and 6500H. These have the new Daiwa black and metallic blue pattern and are designed to be a workhorse in saltwater applications. We really like the price ($199.95-$229.95) and the bang-for-the-buck factor you get: Digi Gear drive system; 5 CRBB bearings, sealed drag, dual anti-reverse, line twist reduction system, and a manual bail. Simple mechanically for maximum reliability. Great reels!
