Thoughts on iCast 2014

July 18, 2014 By Brian Dolne 1 Comment

Hi Folks,

Well, another iCast show is in the books and we have a lot of really spent a lot of time looking at all the new products.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with iCast, it is a show open only to fishing buyers and media that debuts all of the new fishing products for the coming year.  In all honesty, there weren’t near as many exciting new products as usual but there were a few that peaked our interest.

One of the most impressive products we saw all week was the Shimano Terez Stand-Up Big Game rods.  These rods won iCast 2014 Best of Show for Saltwater Rods.  They are a pretty amazing rod that is truly a work of art, in addition to being one mean fishing rod.  These will of course be available soon at ALFC.

Another pretty interesting product was brought to us from our friends at Minn Kota.  This year, they released the Ulterra trolling motor which features a remote control stow and deploy.  This has never been done on a trolling motor (to our knowledge) and definitely falls under the “cool” category.

We are very intrigued by the new Fuji Torzite guides.  These are 40% lighter than the SiC inserts and seems extremely strong and durable.  The Torzite insert is not only lighter, but also smoother.  This helps reduce the friction on the line, leading to better casting distance.  Can’t wait to fish with a rod that has these guides!

Also, be sure and check out the new Tatula HD from Daiwa.  We have these available for pre-order on our site so get yours now.  It’s sure to be a hot reel for umbrella rigs, swimbaits, and big crankbaits.

There are for too many new and innovative products to mention.  It’s been a long week, and I’m not ashamed to say that Dixie and I are worn out.  And so begins the long drive home from Orlando.  I hear there are some pretty excited dogs anxiously awaiting our arrival.

This week we have a really great deal on a few items from Organized Fishing that you’ll definitely want to check out.  We also expand on a few of the new iCast products.  Lots of excitement in the industry right now.

Thanks to all of our great friends and customers who have supported us and passed our name on to their friends. We know we are only here by making sure your needs are our first and only priority. Please let me know if we ever fail to meet and exceed your expectations.

Tight lines,

Tom Ashby
