Question: Having gone to more finesse fishing for walleye and bass (jigs, swimming grubs, 4 inch worms), I am thinking about investing in a 7′ or 7’1″ spinning rod with more sensitivity. I have tried to find field research on the Quantum EYS 704F with the micro guides but none is available. For not a lot more money I can have a G. Loomis GL2 852S JWR spinning rod. What are your thoughts?
Answer: You have definitely chosen the correct rod in the G. Loomis GL2 852S JWR. If sensitivity is what you’re after then, in our opinion, there isn’t a Quantum rod available that will compare with a G. Loomis rod. You will be able to feel all of the bottom contours and structure as well as the soft & light bite you often get with finesse techniques. The G. Loomis GL2 852S JWR spinning rod has a softer tip so you get an ever-so-slight hook-set lag that is often necessary when finesse fishing where the fish takes longer to get the bait fully in its mouth. This rod is an excellent walleye rod as well. Like all G. Loomis rods, the GL2 852S JWR spinning rod comes with a lifetime warranty, so a G. Loomis is always something you can hand down to the next generation.
