User Question: I was wondering if you could give me some advice as to which rod in the G. Loomis line you would team a Shimano Stella 20000SW spinning reel with for chasing Pelagics? I am using the rod stand-up without a fighting belt.
Our Answer: Currently G. Loomis does not offer a suitable rod that would match up with your Stella 20000SW. We recommend considering the Shimano Terez rod which is one of the most fantastic fishing rods we have ever fished with. The key to the fighting power of the Terez is the beating it dishes out to the fish all the while being more comfortable on the angler. Keeping it under your arm is something possible even on the biggest fish. Terez rods are actually named for the muscles that the rod rests against (!). For your purposes I would suggest the Shimano Terez TZS69H which is 6’9″ long, 1 pc, 50-100 lb. braid, fast action, heavy power, $249.99. This rod is perfect for the Stella 20000SW and has lots of backbone for even larger tuna, etc. Another rod worth considering if you are using jigs or Waxwings would be the Shimano Terez TZS70XHA which is 7′, 1 pc, 50-100 lb line, medium fast action, extra heavy power, $219.99 This rod has a bit softer tip for working jigs but also has plenty of backbone. If you use jigs often this would be your best choice. Both models are available in choice of 5 colors: Red, yellow, dark green, white, and light blue.
